Yeah, I get it. Have you tried it in practice? If you haven't, the idea does sound weird, but it really works.

Yeah, pretty much. The censor of the camera will draw the part lighted with the external flash quickly, while everything else keeps moving and getting blurry. You can keep the shutter open even longer, but the photo might get a little too weird. One second is long enough to draw shapes by moving the camera, but short enough to keep the photo understandable. In addition to spinning, you can move the camera up or down, left or right and zoom in or out to create different shapes to the background, your imagination is the limit.

I used an exposure of about one second, and rotated the camera in my hands while exposing. A flash was used to stop the rider from moving in the picture, since a bright, quick flash will stop movement everywhere the light from the device hits. As you can see, everything except the rider and the quarterpipe is spinning. I hope that this answers your question well enough Smile

Barel rides a 820mm bar. That's just under 33". I'd like to test ride a bike with bars that wide, since the widest I've ridden is 28".
